After completing his fellowship, Dr. Aaker joined the faculty at Texas A&M College of Medicine, serving as the Director of Cornea & External Disease for their residency program. In this role, he managed referral cornea cases, provided general ophthalmology care, and trained medical students.

Subsequently, he became part of the Eye Research Foundation, participating in numerous clinical studies focusing on dry eye, cataract surgery, and glaucoma.
